If you have a valid driver's licence from your country of origin, you are allowed to drive in Ontario for up to 60 days. You must obtain an Ontario driver's licence if you want to continue driving after that period.

If your car has licence plates from another province or country, you have 30 days to register your vehicle and get Ontario licence plates and a vehicle permit. Please visit or contact the Timmins Chamber of Commerce License Bureau for more information.

It is the law that all cars must be insured and registered with your provincial or territorial government. Car insurance can be expensive, but it protects you and other drivers in case of an accident. In most provinces, you can find more information by visiting the Insurance Bureau of Canada or by contacting one of the local insurance companies.
