There are many different laws and regulations at the provincial and federal levels of government in Canada that control business ownership and apply to businesses owned and operated in the Timmins area.

These requirements are generally straightforward and easy to understand, although special attention must be paid to the legal requirements because they may be very different from your own country.

Registering a business in the Province of Ontario most often refers to registering the name of a business. In Ontario, it is a legal requirement to register your business name if you are operating a sole proprietorship (one owner) or partnership (more than one owner) under a business name other than your legal name. Most businesses in Ontario are required to register with the Province's Ministry of Government Services.
